Neil Wilson is a freelance writer and photographer based in Perthshire, Scotland. Since 1988 he has authored more than 100 travel and walking guidebooks for various publishers, including Lonely Planet, AA Publishing, Berlitz, Jarrold and HarperCollins.

In recent years Neil has worked on the Lonely Planet guides to Scotland and Ireland, including the pocket guides to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dublin, and a new guide called Journey: North Coast 500 (due out in 2025). He has also written for websites, newspapers, magazines and a whole range of other clients, and shot location videos for LP.

Neil is also a qualified fly fishing guide and instructor working with Fishinguide Scotland.
